Privacy Policy
What information the CBC PAC collects

The CBC PAC collects a variety of personal information about certain visitors to our website. We define "personal information" to be information that can be directly associated with a specific person or entity such as a name, address, telephone number, email address or information about activities directly linked to that person. For example, as you know, we collect personal information about you when sign up for our email list, or submit a comment to our regional discussion areas. Except as stated in this privacy policy, the only personal information collected by the CBC PAC is information you submit to us.

When you make an online contribution to the CBC PAC, we collect your personal information so we can comply with applicable federal law. When you make an online donation, we will ask for your name, address, daytime phone number, employer, occupation, and check or credit card information. In addition, we will ask you to make a series of statements about your contribution so that we can ensure that we may legally accept it. We may disclose certain information about your contribution to the Federal Election Commission, such as required by relevant regulation or in response to conditions set forth by the Federal Election Commission for the receipt of public funds. The Federal Election Commission makes certain information collected from PACs such as the CBC PAC available to the general public, as provided at www.fec.gov.

Our definition of personal information does not include "aggregate" information. Aggregate information is data we collect about a group or category of services or users from which individual user identities have been removed. For example, we may compile a report that indicates that a certain number of our users visit certain pages on our Site. Aggregate information helps us understand trends and user needs.

How the CBC PAC uses the personal information it collects

We will use the personal information you give us to process your comments, provide you with the updates for which you have registered, complete your donation, and to comply with applicable Federal election regulations. We will, for example, contact you by using your email address in order to confirm your online contribution. We also use personal information to provide you with information via email regarding events, resources, and issues that we think might interest you. If you do not wish to receive such emails, you may remove yourself from our email list at any time by sending an email to info@cbcpac.org.

Disclosure of Personal Information

The CBC PAC will only disclose personal information with your consent or as described in this section. The CBC PAC will not sell (exchange information for any form of compensation) your personal information to any third party.

We may share personal information with third parties as necessary to complete a donation that you have initiated or fulfill a service you have requested (such as RSVP to an event). If you contribute through the Site, the CBC PAC may share your personal information with organizations that have similar goals as the PAC. For more information about such organizations, please contact us at info@cbcpac.org. You may opt-out of such sharing, as described below. However, if you sign up only to receive the CBC PAC email alerts, we will not share your personal information with a third party.

Information about our users, including personal information, may be disclosed as part of any consolidation or transition of service to another provider, as well as in the event of a cessation of operations in which personal information would be transferred.

As stated above, we will release personal information to the Federal Election Commission in connection with the CBC PAC’s legal compliance efforts. We will also release personal information when we believe that it is otherwise appropriate to comply with the law, a subpoena, administrative request or court order; to enforce our Site's terms of use; to collect donations; to render services; or to protect our rights or property.

Protecting Your Personal Information

We maintain a variety of physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss or misuse of information that we have collected from you at our site.

Opting Out

Users may opt out of receiving emails from the CBC PAC by visiting our website and updating their preferences or by sending email to info@cbcpac.org. Note that opting out does not remove information about the user from the CBC PAC’s records. For legal and accounting purposes, contribution records and data relating to contributors will be maintained in our database and used as provided in this privacy policy.
